Abstract

Dyeing industrial's liquid waster contains acrylamide produced by dyeing process and washing process. One of the ways to reduce arcylamide is using adsorption process with granular activated carbon as the adsorbent. The objective this experiment is to analyze adsorption pattern of acrylamide by granular activated adsorption column, the rate of downward model of acrylamide from deying industries on granular activated carbon adsorption column and determine the rate of adsorption constant and adsorption capacity of granular activated carbon. This experiment has two steps, batch process and continue process. At continue process, the height of adsorption column that be used is 100 cm, 7 cm in diameter, 200 and 300 mg/L of acrylamide concentration, three size of adsorbent of 16-30, 30-50 and 50-100 MESH, five height adsorbent of 20, 40, 60, 80 and 10 cm. The results of this experiment show that the increasing of acrylamide concentration decreases the operation time, the decreasing of adsorbent size increases the adsorption capacity, and the increasing of space velocity will decrease the operation time. The removal efficiency of acrylamdie in this experiment is 95 — 100%. The adsorption model that gained from experiment's result shows that the chance of the failure in the fields is less and if the failure happens can be caused by worse physical condition.
