Buildings in the warm-humid climate usually aim to keeps the building occupants cold. Traditionally, buildings designed to have enough openings and the wall is construct as thin as possible and porous to provide an air leak by the wall into the building. The goals of such construction are to provide an air circulation in the building and to make quicker heat loss by the wall, this condition will make the temperature inside the building to approach (more or less) or equal to the out door temperature. Masjid, is a religious building that can be meet almost at every place in Indonesia's territories. As a public building, masjid have to meet several comfort requirement, one is to meet the thermal comfort requirement. Thermal comfort can be effect by many parameters and can be achieved by many tools, one of the tools is the design of building elements. Wall and wall opening are one of many tools can be took advantage. Masjid Agung Demak is one of the oldest masjid in Jawa, that have experienced so many renewal program. As one of the oldest masjid, there is an attractive question about wether the design of building elements could provide a thermal comfort condition to the building occupants. The main objective of this research are to identify the role of wall and wall opening to give effect to thermal condition of main prayer hall, and to identify how significant the role of these element.
