Abstract
Housing for the workers must be considered as a part of integrated industrial estate development, but some time the authority less pays attention. This condition can be easily seen in Terboyo Industrial Estate, and cause travelling of the workers from their residences to work place and the opposite. The traffic of the workers emerge a problem which is called commuter, and give a pressure to urban transportation.The commuter is indicated. at peak hour, where the traffic jump occurs. Base on that problem, the research is carried out to study of labour housing facility in Industrial Estate to be considered from . several aspects. Descriptive Qualitative and quantitative statistical analysis with multiple regression were scientific approach the research concludes that 84% workers support the housing facilities with areason of far distance from their esidence more than optimal limits. The single housing is preferred by 27% of the workers, and the other 57% must preferers dormitory form. The location of housing must full fill the distance condition from KITS, easy to be reached and fit with "RTRK Kawasan". Some workers don't need "formal houses", but only a housing for temporarity type of housing as enlargement of "Pondok Boro". This need is caused that they have own at their village. This condition will give a positive relation between urban area (Terboyo Industrial Estate) and sorrounding rural area, and finally rural area can fet economical profit from spending of the workers income. • The recommendation of the research is in developing of labour housing must be carried out by joint operation between Industrial Estate Management, Developer, User and Government.
