PENGARUH PARTISIPASI TERHADAP KEPUASAN PENGGUNA DALAM PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI TERHADAP INDUSTRI MANUFAKTUR DI SEMARANG ( KEAHLIAN, KETIDAKPASTIAN TUGAS, PENERIMAAN SISTEM DAN DUKUNGAN MANAJEMEN PUNCAK SEBAGAI MODERATING VARIABEL )

Abstract

Research concern with information system end user participation gives various findings in relation to the success of information system development. The importance of the participation in order to improve the end user satisfaction in broader system development has been recognized in various literatures. However, this perspective seems poorly convinced, as there is no support by clear findings as well as no clear theoretical explanation for it. The objective of this study is to investigate the interaction impact of contingency fac:ars, namely expertise, uncertainty tasks, system acceptance and top management support on the relationship between end user participation and their satisfaction. As suggested by literatures, this study would examine the hypothesis that those contingency factors could identify the strength of the relationship between end user participation and the satisfaction. This research has been conducted in manufacturer industries in Semarang with 90 respondents selected to take part. This study makes use of Moderated Regression Analysis. The findings of the study suggest that there is a positive relationship between end user participation and its satisfaction. Additionally, the contingency factors also significantly affect the relationship, namely the uncertainty task is recognized as quasi moderators to the given relationship whereas, expertise, system acceptance and top management support recognized as independent predictors to the end user satisfaction. This study gives implication to information system development and academic scholars in order to explain how, when, why and in what context the end user participation is needed. Accordingly, the success of system development is closely related to the contribution of top management support. Therefore, it is suggested that provision of company funds for research and system development is absolutely needed in order to improve productivity and company performance. Pentingnya partisipasi dalam rangka meningkatkan kepuasan pengguna dalam konteks pengembangan sistem yang lebih luas sudah diperkenalkan di berbagai literature. Namun nampaknya perspektif ini kurang menyakinkan sebab tidak didukung oleh temuan dan pemahaman teoritis yang jelas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meneliti dampak interaksi dari faktor kontinjensi yaitu keahlian, ketidakpastian tugas, penerimaan sistem dan dukungan manajemen puncak. Seperti yang disarankan dalam literature, studi ini akan menguji hipotesa yang menyatakan bahwa faktor-faktor kontinjensi tersebut dapat mengidentifikasi kekuatan hubungan antara partisipasi dengan kepuasan penggunanya. Studi ini dilakukan di industri manufaktur Semarang dengan 90 responden yang terpilih untuk berpartisipasi. Studi ini menggunakan Moderated Regression Analysis. Hasil temuannya menyebutkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara partisipasi pengguna dengan tingkat kepuasannya. Selanjutnya faktor-faktor kontinjensi tersebut secara signifikan mempengaruhi hubungan tersebut, yaitu ketidakpastian tugas diidentifikasi sebagai variabel quasi moderator terhadap kepuasan pengguna, sementara itu keahlian, penerimaan sistem dan dukungan manajemen puncak diidentifikasi sebagai prediktor independen mumi terhadap kepuasan pengguna. Studi ini memberikan implikasi bagi pengembangan sistem informasi dan kalangan akademis dalam menjelaskan bagaimana, kapan, mengapa, dan pada konteks apa partisipasi tersebut dibutuhkan. Artinya, keberhasilan pengembangan sistem sangat berkaitan dengan adanya dukungan manajemen puncak. Oleh sebab itu, disarankan ketersediaan dana perusahaan untuk penelitian dan pengembangan sangatlah diperlukan guna meningkatkan produktifitas dan kinerja perusahaan.
