Abstract

Kaltim-3 Ammonia Plant was designed with capacity of 1000 ton ammonia per day, used Haldor Topsoe license from Denmark and Benfield system technology for CO2 absorption in CO2 Removal unit. Kaltim-3 Ammonia plant was installed hydrogen recovery unit system, process condensate stripper with heat recover)/ system and fuel system and also utilization of flue gas heat optimally. Installation of these equipments was one of the implementation of cleaner production concepts. These equipment were different with kaltim-2 ammonia's equipment This evaluation was intended to analyze the benefit from these equipment and got the opportunities for implementation of the cleaner production concepts in Kaltim-2 Ammonia Plant and also to made the cleaner production models for ammonia plant. Evaluation method was to compare of mass balance, cost reduction and environmental impact between before and after the existence of these equipment. Environmental aspect was the main consideration for getting the opportunities of implementation of cleaner production concepts, beside technical and financial aspect. The results of these evaluations were that installation of the third of these equipment in Kaltim-3 Ammonia Plant play a role significantly for reducing the energy consumption, namely 5,88 mmbtu per ton ammonia product or efficiency that can be obtained approximately seventeen billions rupiah annually. Increasing of ammonia production was from 1000 ton per day up to 1180 ton per day or the production increasing was about 18 %. Besides that also reducing the waste gas emission from 39.000 nm3 per hour decrease to 12.500 nm3 per hour or the reduction of this emission was about 67%. This research also got eight recommendations for implementation of cleaner production in ammonia plant. Recommendation for Kaltim-2 Ammonia Plant were to install the Air Preheater in convection section for utilization of flue gas heat optimally and to install the Process Condensate Stripper with medium pressure steam as the media of steam stripping to eliminate the waste gas effluent. Beside that there were eight recommendations that can be made consideration for designing the new ammonia plant or modification of ammonia plant equipment. Pabrik ammonia Kaltim-3 dirancang dengan kapasitas terpasang 1.000 ton per hari dengan menggunakan proses lisenci Haldor Topsoe, Denmark dan Teknologi Benfield sebagai teknologi proses penyerapan gas CO2 pada unit CO2 Removal serta dilengkapi dengan hydrogen recovery unit. Process condensate stripper menggunakan tipe PCS dengan system reflux heat recovery dan fuel system, selain itu temperatur buangn flue gas ke udara relatif sangat rendah. Peralatan-peralatan tersebut merupakan salah upaya di dalam melakukan pencegahan pencemaran lingkungan. Hal ini berbeda dengan yang berada di pabrik Ammonia Kaltim-2. Tujuan evaluasi ini untuk mengetahui keuntungan yang diperoleh dengan pemasangan peralatan tersebut serta mengkaji adanya peluang untuk menerapkan produksi bersih pada pabrik ammonia secara umum. Pendekatan evaluasi yang dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan komparasi antara sebelum dan sesudah keberadaan alat tersebut dan biaya yang bisa dihemat, serta mempertimbangkan aspek lingkungan, teknis dan finansial di dalam mengkaji peluang kemungkinan penerapan produksi bersih. Dad evaluasi yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil bahwa pemasangan ketiga peralatan tersebut di pabrik ammonia kaltim-3 mempunyai peran yang sangat signifikan terhadap penurunan energi sebesar 5,88 mmbtu per ton ammonia. Atau penghematan yang bisa dihemat sekitar Rp. 17.000.000.000,- (tujuh belas milyard rupiah) per tahun. Terjadi kenaikan produksi ammonia dari 1000 ton per hari menjadi 1180 ton per hail atau naik sekitar 18 %. Selain itu juga terjadi penurunan emisi gas buang dari 39000 NM3 per jam menjadi 12500 NM3 per jam atau turun sekitar 67 %. Sedangkan untuk kajian peluang kemungkinan penerapan produksi bersih di pabrik ammonia diperoleh delapan rekomendasi. Rekomendasi diberikan untuk pabrik Ammonia Kaltim-2 agar bisa dipasang air preheater pada convection section untuk mengoptimalkan panas flue gas dan dipasang PCS yang menggunakan medium pressure steam sebagai steam stripping untuk mengeliminir semua buangan limbah gas. Selain itu delapan peluang penerapan produksi bersih pada pabrik ammonia agar bisa dijadikan pertimbangan dalam melakukan perancangan pabrik ammonia baru dan modifikasi peralatan untuk pabrik ammonia yang udah ada.
