Abstract
Dense Graded Emulsion Mix (DGEM) as the flexible pavement has structural characteristics, impermeable and high workability due to no requirement of heating to mix. While stone dust as the standard tiller has widely been used, but the production of stone dust is limited, the filler is significant to fill the void among aggregate, which affects the density of DGEM. The study, hereby, aims at addressing the possibility of the fly ash to be utilized as the substituted alternative material of the standard filler of DGEM type III. To identify the characteristic of DGEM, the modified Marshall test was done. The establishment of specimens is based upon the specification of Both the Bina Marga (1991) and the Asphalt Institute MS-19 (1979). Whereas, the techniques of laboratory test and analysis refer to that of the Asphalt Institute MS-14 (1990). Having the optimum of filler and residue reached, the permeability and deformation test may be conducted. The results, in the post time of 14 days incubation, showed that the optimum of fly ash filler reached the value of 4.6 % with the asphalt residue 5.625 %. In this condition was obtained the total void values of 16.909 %, the absorption 0.9234 %, the density of 2.0906 gram/cc, the soaked stability of 907.38 kg, the dry stability of 1034,3 kg and remained stability of 87.7275 %, coefficient permeability of 0.000413 cm/s, and the permanent deformation of 1.28 mm. Whereas, the optimum of fly ash filler was reached at the value of 4.6 % with the residue coefficient of 5.625 % in the characteristics as here: the void value of 16.665 %, the absorption value of 1.0536 %, the density of 2.1139 gr/cc, the soaked stability of 850.9 kg, the dry stability of 872.35 kg, the remained stability of 97.541 %, the coefficient of permeability of 0.000236 cm/s, and the permanent deformation of 0.595 mm. Actually, the fly ash can be used as stone dust substitution, even it is better if it was applied as the filler in Dense Graded Emulsion Mix (DGEM) Type III, that can be used as flexible pavement. Campuran Emulsi Bergradasi Rapat (CEBR) sebagai lapis perkerasan lentur, memiliki sifat struktural, :kedap air dan memiliki kemudahan untuk dilaksanakan karena tidak memerlukan pemanasan dalam pencampurannya. Filler mempunyai peran penting untuk mengisi rongga diantara agregat, yang berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kerapatan dari CEBR. Sementara itu abu batu sebagai filler standar yang sering digunakan sangat langka diproduksi oleh stone crusher. Pada penelitian ini akan membahas kemungkinanfly ash dapat digunakan sebagai bahan alternatif pengganti filler standar (abu batu) pada CEBR tipe III. Untuk mengetahui karakteristik CEBR dilakukan pengujian Modified Marshall Test. Pembuatan benda uji didasarkan pada spesifikasi khusus Bina Marga (1991) dan The Asphalt Institute MS 19 (1979). Sedangkan cara pengujian laboratorium dan analisis mengacu pada The Asphalt Institute MS 14 (1990). Setelah didapatkan nilai optimum filler dan residu, dilanjutkan dengan uji permeabilitas dan deformasi. Hasil penelitian setelah dilakukan pemeraman selama 14 hari, didapat nilai optimum untuk filler abu batu sebesar 4.6% pada kadar residu 5.625%. Pada kondisi tersebut diperoleh nilai total rongga 16.909%, nilai absorpsi 0.9234%, kerapatan (density) 2.0906 gr/cc, stabilitas rendaman 907.38 kg, stabilitas kering 1034.3 kg dan stabilitas sisa ' sebesar 87.7275%, koefisien permeabilitas 0.000413 cm/dt, deformasi permanen 1.28 mm. Sedangkan untuk filler fly ash nilai optimum dicapai pada kadar 4.6% pada kadar residu 5.625%, dengan karakteristik sebagai berikut: nilai total rongga 16.665%, nilai absorpsi 1.0536%, kerapatan (density) 2.1139 gr/cc, stabilitas rendaman 850.9 kg, stabilitas kering, 872.35 kg, stabilitas sisa sebesar 97.541%, koefisien permeabilitas 0.000236cm/dt, deformasi permanen 0.595 mm. Sehinggafly ash dapat digunakan untuk menggantikan abu batu, bahkan lebih baik jika dipakai sebagai filler pada Campuran Emulsi Bergradasi Rapat (CEBR) tipe III dan dapat digunakan pada lapisan perkerasan lentur yang bemilai struktural.
